Schwarzenegger appoints new real estate commissioner

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has appointed Jeff Davi as the Commissioner of the Department of Real Estate. Davi succeeds Paula Reddish Zinnemann, who left the post in October 2003, when state voters recalled Gov. Gray Davis and appointed Schwarzenegger to replace him.

Davi is broker/owner of A.G. Davi Ltd., in Monterey, and most recently served as president of the Monterey Association of Realtors and chairman of RE InfoLink MLS. He served on the Affordable Housing Steering Committee of Monterey County, as well as numerous charitable and community organizations in the state.

Davi is a member of the California Association of Realtors, and serves on its board of directors. He has 15 years experience in real estate sales, leasing, management and financing.

The Real Estate Commissioner’s role is to administer and enforce real estate law, as well as subdivided lands law. The Commissioner has the authority, if supported by the evidence obtained, to hold formal hearings to decide issues involving a real estate licensee or a license applicant, as well as suspend, revoke or deny a real estate license. The Commissioner also is empowered to issue regulations.

California Realtors welcomed Davi’s appointment in the state Real Estate Commissioner seat.

“We’re pleased that a Realtor is part of Governor Schwarzenegger’s team in Sacramento,” C.A.R. President Ann Pettijohn said.

“C.A.R. is confident that Realtors will find a receptive commissioner on the housing policy issues that matter most to Californians. We look forward to working together to develop solutions to our state’s housing affordability crisis,” she added. “With his extensive background in the real estate industry, Mr. Davi will bring a unique slate of experience to his role as DRE Commissioner.”
