PlugStar.com, a new Web-based national classified advertising network, features real estate listings, product sales, trades and swaps, and also postings related to professional services, dating, jobs and local events.
The site, now in its beta testing stage, aims to offer listings in every state. Users who wish to post to the site can enter their community page, choose a category, and fill out a submission form online.
Andrew Hillman, the site’s founder, said in an announcement this week that some people have labeled PlugStar as another social software domain, though he said it is more like a “social connection” service that can serve as a more efficient community platform than typical social software sites.
“I have high hopes of PlugStar.com being well received and becoming part of the mainstream culture so more people can benefit from this type of free service,” Hillman said. “We built the site for the people, now it’s time for the people to create and develop their prospective communities.
