Long-term mortgage interest rates were flat Tuesday, and the benchmark 10-year Treasury bond yield slid to 4.16 percent.
The 30-year fixed-rate average remained at 5.48 percent, and the 15-year fixed-rate rose slightly to 4.81 percent. The 1-year adjustable was unchanged at 3.07 percent.
The 30-year Treasury bond yield sank to 5.01 percent.

Mortgage rate figures are according to Bankrate.com, which publishes nightly averages based on its survey of 4,000 banks in 50 states. Points on these mortgages range from zero to 3.5.
In other economic news, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 12.44 points, or 0.12 percent, finishing at 10,570.81. The Nasdaq was down 19.22 points, or 0.92 percent, closing at 2,059.9.
