Limited-service, low-commission real estate brokers are gaining market share and that trend is reducing traditional brokers’ opportunities for higher commissions, but filling a market need, judging by the results of an Inman News survey. Most respondents said traditional brokers shouldn’t attempt to compete on a cost basis with reduced service discount brokerages.
“Low-commission brokers in my opinion are diluting the marketplace,” said Gary M. Dabaldo, an agent with RE/MAX Blue Skies in Michigan. “Many consumers think they are getting the same service from a cheaper brokerage when in fact they are receiving limited services.”
